Bowing to the inevitable, OFCOM has finally confirmed that it’s going to legalise the use of mini FM transmitters like the Xtrememac Airplay (pictured).
FM Transmitters have been the worlds best selling iPod Accessories so it’s about time the arcane legislation (both in Ireland and the UK) was changed.
The watchdog published its draft regulations on Thursday and now says it’s likely to have completed the full tedious legalisation process by December.
It’ll mean a revamp to the ageing 1949 Wireless Telegraphy Act which put the devices in the ridiculous legal limbo situation of being legal to buy but not to use.
One word of caution though, they’ll still be illegal in many parts of Europe.
